Retention Recovery

Teeth can shift after braces. Lifetime retention, replacement retainers, and limited retreatment are available.

Retention Recovery

When braces come off, the most important phase of treatment begins: retention. Your final result depends on wearing retainers as directed. We recommend lifetime retention, using a system that gradually reduces wear time so the bite you worked for stays stable.

If a retainer is lost, broken, or has not been worn, teeth can drift. That is common, and it is better to call sooner rather than later. In many cases a new retainer can be made. If shifting is more significant, limited treatment with aligners or braces may be discussed after an examination.

Former patients of the practice and new patients who completed treatment elsewhere are welcome. Bring any retainers you still have. We will look at the current alignment and explain the most conservative way to protect or recover your result.
