There is not a single “best” brace for every patient. The right appliance depends on the bite, the amount of movement needed, oral hygiene, and what you want treatment to look like day to day. After records, Dr. Carley explains the options that actually fit your case.
Metal braces are the most familiar system: brackets bonded to the teeth and an archwire that guides movement. They remain an excellent choice for many children, teens, and adults because they offer reliable control.
Clear braces work on the same principle with tooth-colored or ceramic brackets that blend in more with the smile. Self-ligating (smart clip) braces use a clip instead of elastic ties, which can reduce friction and may mean fewer adjustments. Clear aligners are removable trays used when the case is a good fit for that approach.
At the consultation, the appliances being considered are available for visual inspection, including the type of braces and the retainers used afterward. Start with a free exam so we can match the appliance to the result you need.
- Metal braces for strength and control
- Clear braces for a more discreet look
- Self-ligating braces and aligners when appropriate
